The Eternal Light

Jesus - Immanuel God with us Isaiah 7 14

Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, where David was?  John 7:42

RECOMMENDED READING: Micah 5:1-4    Now gather yourself in troops,O daughter of troops; He has laid siege against us; They will strike the judge of Israel with a rod on the cheek.

                                                  THE COMING MESSIAH

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,Yet out of you shall come forth to MeThe One to be Ruler in Israel,Whose goings forth are from of old,From everlasting.”

Therefore He shall give them up,Until the time that she who is in labor has given birth; Then the remnant of His brethrenShall return to the children of Israel. And He shall stand and feed His flockIn the strength of the Lord,In the majesty of the name of the Lord His God;And they shall abide,For now He shall be greatTo the ends of the earth;.”

COMMENTS: Bethlehem means “the house of bread”.  Bethlehem was also the place where lambs were raised for sacrifice in the temple at Jerusalem.  Bethlehem was the birthplace of King David and is called the City of David.  Micah foretold that Bethlehem would be the birthplace of the Messiah – ruler of Israel. Bethlehem is mentioned 35 times in the Old Testament. Over 300 predictions or prophecies are given of Christ in the Old Testament. I will provide more details on them in tomorrow’s devotion.

All this and so much more remind us God is never surprised nor unprepared.  He gives us free will to choose wisely or foolishly.  He offers us help and forgiveness when we turn to Him with a repentant heart.  He even uses evil deeds to bring about good results.  He always fulfills His promises and prophecies.   But His timing and way are not ours nor a way we can comprehend until it comes to pass.  But His ways and motives and results are always to our benefit and for His honor.  Satan doesn’t know nor understand His ways and doesn’t know what will happen.  Well, he knows God says that he will fail but, doesn’t know when and likely still believes he can outsmart or out maneuver God.  He believes God is limited by His own love and decency so satan still believes such are weaknesses that give he, satan, an advantage.  But little does he know God’s abilities and power are boundless and it is satan’s evil that limits and causes weakness.  There is no doubt satan will lose and along with him those who follow and practice his evil.  AMEN?  AMEN!
