With Him Forever

                       2019 New Year Hope

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.   John 14:3

RECOMMENDED READING:  Revelation 21:3-7   “And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.”

COMMENTS: If you or I were told we could either choose living in an old broken-down shack and a minimum wage job for a week with promise of a mansion and a six-figure job you will love for the rest your life, would that be a hard choice?    What if the other choice was living in the same mansion with the six-figure job for a week followed by living in that same shack and same minimum wage job for the rest of your life?  Would that be an easy or a hard choice for you?  Why?

Well, God is promising us the first choice and satan is offering us mansion sooner but can only deliver the second.  Can you recognize the comparison?  Satan offers more than he can deliver with no possibility of a good eternal future.  God, by comparison, offers a perfect – bright eternal future preceded by at worst a few years of hardship or suffering.   The big difference is He promised to take our hand and stay with us during hard times and be there to greet us when our life here is finished.

Take note of the cartoon above.  How do we know our future is bright?  How do we know any hardship will be brief?  Because God has promised and He keeps His promise.   Because planting redemption and planting obedience will grow into His rewards and fulfillment of His promises, just like planting flower seed produces flowers.

We have read about Him, prayed to Him, committed our hopes and desires to Him, sought to obey and follow Him faithfully—we have done everything except see Him! But the apostle John says that day is coming: “When He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is” (1 John 3:2). Not only will we meet Jesus, but we will also be like Him (Romans 8:29).

On your most challenging days, remember that a glorious day is coming. You will meet Jesus in person and be with Him forever.

Hope teaches endurance and an eager anticipation of that which will become reality.
