Positive Words

Psalm-23_c

Know that the Lord, He is God.  Psalm 100:3

RECOMMENDED READING PSALM 100 “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

COMMENTS:  Books like “The Power of Positive Thinking” teach the importance of keeping a positive attitude and making our minds guide us to focus and work towards positive goals.  Such is important and even vital to achieving goals, even life changing goals.  How many times have athletes been discouraged but someone encouraged them and motivated them to keep going.  Students dreaming of graduation and working in the career they dream of   often become discouraged due to difficulty of studies and length of time required.  Without encouragement and help along the way, it is not likely they will succeed.

There are few, if any, accomplishments possible without the help of others at time.  Parents provide support, encouragement, finances and other help, love, and even rest at times.  When parents fail to be there to provide these things, then someone else is needed.   Every successful person has had someone and often many mentoring and encouraging them along the way.

Success and achieving any worthwhile goal require hard work and the support of others along the way.  By contrast paths to destruction seldom happen that way.  A drug addict doesn’t want to be a drug addict or sees himself as a drug addict when starts.  But the path is certain because the temptation drives him to that end.  That is because the power to achieve that end comes from satan with the goal to destroy you and me.

So, not only do we need to set worthy goals and work and stay focused on those goal, seeking help and finding support along the way, but we also need to be on guard to battle those distractions and dangers along the way that have the ability to pull us off the path and destroy us.  Ephesians 6 tells us to put on the whole armor of God so satan’s darts of temptations will not penetrate and weaken or kill us.  Addictions are powerful enough to force us to seek out the opportunity of temptation.

God has promised to never fail or abandon or leave us (“5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”Hebrews 13:5-6).  There are times He doesn’t seem to be near but it is especially then we need to seek Him in prayer and in His Word.  He also promises we will find Him if seek Him sincerely with all our heart (“13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13).                                                                          “Sovereignty characterizes the whole being of God. He is sovereign in all His attributes.”  A. W. Pink
