God’s Plan – Every Couple a Ruth ‘n Boaz Couple

ruth-gleening

Ruth 2:1-12 And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.2 And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.3 And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.4 And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, The Lord be with you. And they answered him, The Lord bless thee.5 Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this?6 And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab:7 And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.8 Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:9 Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.10 Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?11 And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.12 The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.”

COMMENTS : Living a righteous life has benefits far beyond our wildest dreams, but not beyond God’s. Dreams that gave Daniel authority second only to the most powerful king of his day and 3 of his successors but not without great tests of his faith. Dreams that did the same for Joseph in spite of his brother’s evil intent and equally challenging tests of his faith. Dreams that made a slave girl, Esther, Queen, but again faith tests. Dreams that made a misguided evil man named Saul, bent on stopping Christ’s followers, into Paul, the greatest evangelist of his day and a key writer in our New Testament. Scripture records countless more examples, but I believe you get the idea and can think of a few examples yourself even in your generation. So can I. Ruth and Boaz’s is a wonderful love story that warms the hearts of anyone who takes the time to read and reflect. This love story is one God wants to do for every young man and young woman willing to live righteously and remain pure in order to demonstrate a love and faith in Him. Naomi showed Ruth value of doing so and Ruth joined her in that covenant to God. Boaz also made such a covenant with God without knowing blessings God would shower him with as a result. The blessing was to be a godly wife with a pagan past but more righteous than the best Israel had to offer. Boaz was blessed also with wealth and health and the respect of his community. But Boaz had no idea God had planned for him to become the great grandfather of King David and a direct link to the Messiah Himself. He had no idea what God had planned. But if he had rejected God’s will as a young man and followed his own selfish desires, he would never know what he would miss. What have you missed? Ruth had missed until she repented and followed God. She got a fresh start. God gives us fresh starts each morning. Take advantages of a fresh start God is offering you this morning. It might be the last one He will give you. There is no guarantee He will so don’t risk being left behind. There are many examples of such in scripture as well. Don’t become one. As long as you and I have life, we have opportunity to repent, but our days are growing short. No matter who poor or sinful choices you and I have made, God is still offering us a fresh start and an opportunity to follow His plan. How well has following your plan worked for you. I dare share not so well.
