Entropy vs Eternity

ECC 12,1

“Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come, and the years draw near when you say, “I have no pleasure in them.” “Ecclesiastes 12:1                                    Recommended Reading: ECCLESIASTES 12:1-8 “ Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth,Before the difficult days come,And the years draw near when you say,“I have no pleasure in them”:While the sun and the light,The moon and the stars,Are not darkened,And the clouds do not return after the rain;In the day when the keepers of the house tremble,And the strong men bow down; When the grinders cease because they are few,And those that look through the windows grow dim; When the doors are shut in the streets,And the sound of grinding is low; When one rises up at the sound of a bird,And all the daughters of music are brought low. Also they are afraid of height,And of terrors in the way; When the almond tree blossoms,The grasshopper is a burden,And desire fails. For man goes to his eternal home,And the mourners go about the streets.Remember your Creator before the silver cord is loosed,Or the golden bowl is broken,Or the pitcher shattered at the fountain,Or the wheel broken at the well. Then the dust will return to the earth as it was,And the spirit will return to God who gave it.“Vanity of vanities,” says the Preacher,“All is vanity.””

COMMENTS:  The second law of Thermodynamics states that system energy gradually decreases.  It does not remain unchanged or increase.  Likewise, the law of entropy states that every system goes from a state of order to disorder without any outside influence.   This alone disproves evolution, which would mean animals and humans should not be evolving to a more intelligent and advanced species but the opposite.

Well, entropy is proven all around us.  How long does it take for a well-maintained house to decay into disrepair when abandoned?  How long does it take before strong healthy muscles become weak and unusable if not exercised?  How long does it take for us to fall back into sin and a path to death when our relationship with Christ is neglected by us?  The answer to all these questions and any other examples we can easily think of is “NOT LONG, NOT LONG AT ALL!”.   But a neglected house can soon come back to life and its former beauty when work and replacement parts are invested back into it.

Likewise, consider the time and love and sacrifice Christ has invested into us and continues to invest in us.   The new life He offers us and sustained eternal life He offers and provides tells us two things.   We can not obtain it on our own and will continue to need work to maintain or we will fall into disrepair.  That also means Christ must continue to invest in us.  He has provided for that with the indwelling Holy Spirit available for every Christian.

Likewise, consider how our bodies weaken and grow old as we age even if we work hard to maintain them.  That is the result of sin, which satan introduced and maintains, in the world.   Sin grows stronger as we dwell on it and follow satan’s inspiration and temptations.  We likely do so without realizing it simply by neglecting our relationship with Christ.  Satan is cunning and deceptive enough to get us to follow him without realizing it.  Without God’s help, we don’t have a clue how to resist or fight satan’s schemes.  BUT WITH CHRIST’S FELLOWSHIP AND HIS ABIDING HOLY SPIRIT, WE CAN AND WILL WIN THE WAR AGAINST SATAN!  We will win the war for our soul and achieve the eternal life with a body and home in heaven that will not decay or age or become diseased.  Satan offers eternal fun and joy and happiness but cannot deliver.  He can only deliver disease and death and sickness and pain and suffering.  That is why he is a liar.  Who would seek what he has to offer.  But his lies sound great.  But only God keeps His promises.  Promises that are far more wonderful than we can imagine.   Satan offers short term gratification without regard for future consequences.  God offers eternal blessing but requires trust and faith in Him during short term trials and hardship that often come before blessings are realized.   Building our faith in Him requires such hardships, as it did for Job and Joseph and Daniel and David and Esther and millions of others.  Such is required of us too.  If He spares us the degree of hardship He allowed Job or Daniel to endure, praise Him.  But praise Him when both blessing and suffering come.  Both come our way to make us stronger and demonstrate God’s love, not his judgment or anger.  But don’t test Him too far.  When we abandon Him or deliberately choose to sin, we test His disappointment and anger but we also remove ourselves from His protection so consequences of our actions are at risk of reigning down on us.  When this happens, don’t blame God, for such is our own fault.  If we repent and He spares or diminished those consequences, that is due to His Grace.  We need to praise Him for that too.
