NEW YEAR , NEW YOU – ETERNAL LIFE

But You are the same, and Your years will have no end.  Psalm 102:27

Recommended Reading: Psalm 102:18-28

18 This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the Lord.19 For He looked down from the height of His sanctuary; From heaven the Lord viewed the earth,20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner, To release those appointed to death,21 To declare the name of the Lord in Zion, And His praise in Jerusalem,22 When the peoples are gathered together, And the kingdoms, to serve the Lord.

23 He weakened my strength in the way; He shortened my days.24 I said, “O my God, Do not take me away in the midst of my days; Your years are throughout all generations.25 Of old You laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands.26 They will perish, but You will endure; Yes, they will all grow old like a garment; Like a cloak You will change them, And they will be changed.27 But You are the same, And Your years will have no end.

28 The children of Your servants will continue, And their descendants will be established before You.”

COMMENTS:  Today’s passage from Psalm 102 reminds us that God knew you and me and had us in mind even as He inspired the psalmist to write these words.  That is one of the many reasons why the Bible is just as applicable today as it was in ancient times.   After all, the Writer hasn’t changed even though the persons who wrote the passages simply dictated what God inspired and told them to write. Sure, they each write based on their experience and style and personality but still accurately conveyed God’s Word. That is why those passage made it into scripture.  Those who wrote less inspired words did not make it into scripture.

God has a wonderful way of helping us create a positive – lasting legacy if we let Him and follow His council and direction.   Consider the impact of those who were Christ followers years ago and the positive impact they had on you and me.  My examples include my own parents, my sister, many teachers and pastors, many in my family and church family and community.  How about you?  I am looking forward to getting reacquainted with all of them in heaven and learning from their experience again, but most of all with Jesus Himself.  He will have time for each of us individually because He will be able to do so with each of us individually all at the same time – with no need to wait in line to see Him.  Will we stand in awe of His presence or at His feet bow in worship and praise?   I can’t imagine not bowing at His feet in worship and praise, but so look forward to listening to Him as the disciples did too.

Adam fellowshipped with God each evening when it was cool and work of the day was done.  He still desires to do so with each of us both here now and also in heaven. Is it no wonder His love for us compelled Him to go to the Cross for us?  How much more we should be compelled to yield our wills to His and embrace the relationship He so wants to have with each of us.  AMEN?  AMEN!
