PERFORMING UNDER PRESSURE

Recommended Reading:  2 CORINTHIANS 1:8-11 For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, 10 who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us, 11 you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the gift granted to us through many..”

We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.  2 Corinthians 4:8-9

COMMENTS:  Why must good people endure injustice and persecution and worse from the hands of angry or evil motivated people while those doing evil often enjoy prosperity and little consequence of their actions. Well, God does promise eternal reward for our faithfulness and that those who do injustice and persecute His servants will be held accountable and face judgment for their actions.  God’s compassion and mercy does bring delayed judgment for the guilty because He would much rather they repent and be spared His judgment.  Judgment comes when damage done by evil becomes too great to delay any longer.  Mercy comes when those guilty of sin come seeking forgiveness and a new better life. All deserve God’s judgment because all are guilty of sin, but those willing to repent and change find God’s mercy instead of His judgment.  Those who refuse to repent and continue the destructive path of sin, will ultimately only find judgment and death.

How will God judge us?  Since He requires perfection and must judge sin, how can anyone be spared of His judgment?  Can anyone live a life good enough?  How much must we suffer or endure in order to be judged worthy or sufficient for our redemption?

To ask these questions misses the point.   We could not endure or do enough to win our own redemption.  God sees us as forgiven and perfect when He sees us their His Son’s blood and sacrifice.  That can only be if we allow Him to be our advocate to the Father and accept His gift of forgiveness bases on Christ’s sacrifice.  By doing this, we open opportunity for His life changing Spirit to enter and begin cleaning up and healing our sickness of sin and its destructive influence.

We change after being forgiven, not in order to be forgiven.

What we endure and hardships we experience is not God’s desire but instead is satan’s influence attempting to hinder God’s Will and discourage our obedience.  God does and will use satan’s evil purpose and work for good, so God will be honored and His servants will be blessed and stronger.   Their suffering has a limited duration and purpose.  Satan is allowed to try within limits, but satan cannot stop God’s will not prevent God’s people from obeying His Will and instructions.
