HE FREELY GIVES ALL

  • He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:32

RECOMMENDED SCRIPTURE READING:  ROMANS 8:31-39  “31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written:“For Your sake we are killed all day long;We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

COMMENTS: Today is May 7th, the national day of prayer in USA.  A day reserved to recognize and hold precious God’s presence and blessings and guiding Hands.   Our country was founded by pilgrims and immigrants who held freedom precious but held freedom to worship even more precious.  They knew only by putting Christ in prominence in their new government and seeking and following His Council would their government and country survive and thrive.   Thrive it has and thrive it only can if we continue to follow their example and keep Christ at the helm in our lives and in our government.

Today, we spend some more time reflecting and praying seeking God’s forgiveness and mercy but also His instruction and “orders”.   2 Chronicles 7:14 continues to be His council and “orders” for you and me and our leaders and our citizens.14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

J.I. Packer describes Romans 8:32 in his book “Knowing God.  He writes “The meaning of He will give us all things” means that one day we will realize that He has denied us nothing that hindered our eternal happiness.  Then we will see Him and know Him fully and experience that eternal happiness without the scales and distractions of sin’s influence we struggle with on earth.

When we become Christians, God brings joy into our life—the joy of knowing that He has given us His Son, and through Him everything else we need or will ever need.

If Jesus Christ would give His own life for you, will He not also give you everything you need for life, godliness, happiness, joy, and eternal safety? The loss of joy is occasioned by unbelief. But the presence of joy is the natural consequence of knowing that Romans 8:32 is a living reality for us every day. Through Jesus Christ, God has given us everything.

“You will never need more than he can supply, and what he supplies, both materially and spiritually, will always be enough.”  J. I. Packer, Knowing God
