EASTER – JESUS WON!

                                                       EASTER RESSURRECTION

What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad?

Luke 24:17

RECOMMENDED SCRIPTURE READING:  Psalm 5:1-12   Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation.Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face. For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.10 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.12 For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield..”

COMMENTS:   We serve a Mighty and Wonderful God.  We serve the God who made the universe and all living creatures in it.  We serve the God who sustains His Creation and is actively involved in its well-being.  We serve the God who loved the human beings He created to give them free will and free choice to follow or reject Him, but also paid a great price Himself to redeem and provide forgiveness and eternal life with Him.  We serve the God who passionately desires to be in relationship with us and is preparing heaven for us to abide with Him forever.  We serve the God of eternity past and eternity future.    We serve the God with no equal and no superior.   We serve the Triune God, Father – Son – Holy Spirit.   Holy Week is the most important time for the Christian.  Importance begins with Maundy Thursday with the Last Supper Jesus had with His disciples observing the Passover meal but also Communion with them to remind them, and us, of the importance of what He was about to do.  Then the betrayal of Judas, the time of prayer and preparation in the Garden, the arrest and denial by Peter.  Then the trial and flogging and judgment of crucifixion of Jesus.   Good Friday was anything but good because it was the day Jesus suffered and died on that Roman Cross.   The world of following and serving Jesus fell apart for the disciples and others who followed Him.  It was a terrible day for Jesus because He experienced separation from the Father when He took on the guilt for our sins.  His physical and spiritual suffering was beyond imagination.  Good Friday was the day satan thought he had won but a necessary day in order for Jesus to win our redemption.   Then comes Resurrection Day, Easter Sunday.  The day of days.  The day Christ rose the first.   He rose victorious over satan and death and punishment for our sins.  He rose the first so we all who accept His precious gift of redemption will   follow one day rising to eternal life in eternal bodies to live in our eternal home with Him.   That is the Holiest and most Important of Days we celebrate and remember as Christ Followers.  I encourage and invite you to celebrate this Easter morning safely but with your family gathered around His throne of grace in praise and worship for all He is, all He has done, and all He continues to do, and all He promised He will do, for He indeed  WILL!  Remember, He loves and gave up so much for you and for me.  AMEN?  AMEN!

“Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing / eternal hallelujahs to Jesus Christ the King!”   Alfred H. Ackley, in the hymn “He Lives!
