God’s Will will be Done!

Charlie Brown quote1

Afterward his brother came out [of Rebekah’s womb], and his hand took hold of Esau’s heel; so his name was called Jacob.   Genesis 25:26

Recommended Reading  Genesis 27:41-45 41 So Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him, and Esau said in his heart, “The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will kill my brother Jacob.”42 And the words of Esau her older son were told to Rebekah. So she sent and called Jacob her younger son, and said to him, “Surely your brother Esau comforts himself concerning you by intending to kill you. 43 Now therefore, my son, obey my voice: arise, flee to my brother Laban in Haran. 44 And stay with him a few days, until your brother’s fury turns away, 45 until your brother’s anger turns away from you, and he forgets what you have done to him; then I will send and bring you from there. Why should I be bereaved also of you both in one day?”

COMMENTS:  Do you know what your name means?  Have you ever been  told or looked us the meaning behind either your  first name or last name?  My first name is “Donald” and is a old Scottish name dating back to 9th Century meaning to  rule or  “leader”    McDaniel means “son of Daniel”   Daniel is a Hebrew name meaning “to judge”.  Well, in  recent years names are chosen because parents either like the name or associate the name with family they admire or strive to be like.  Most do not take the time to research the meaning or origins behind the name.

In biblical times, the meaning of a name was known and believed to connect to destiny of infant name was given to.  Jacob means “to follow at the heel” and was given him because he, as a twin, because he had a hold of Esau, his twin brother, when born.  Jesus’ name means “to save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21) 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,] because he will save his people from their sins.”

So let’s be honest with ourselves and with God and go to Him today asking if our current path is His best or one that will end up a “dead end”.  What is the name God wants us to be identified with and destiny He wants us to fulfill? Abram became Abraham,  Simon became Peter and Saul became Paul when they followed God’s  lead, God’s Will.  Joseph and David and Daniel kept their name doing God’s Will.  So what name is God dreaming for you and me.   What will He call us.  Will my name remain Donald?  How about yours?

Well, whatever God decides and leads us is all Good – Very Good.   AMEN?  AMEN!

Temptations to replace the will of God with one’s own should be resisted immediately. God’s will will  be done, even if it results in painful lessons.
