TRIBULATION NOW

We have access by faith into this grace…. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations.  Romans 5:2-3

RECOMMENDED SCRIPTURE READING:  ROMANS 5:1-5  Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

COMMENTS:  Trials and tribulations are not anything but pleasant or enjoyable.  They bring suffering and pain and loss. They come in the form of sickness or loss or injustice or abuse.  They bring loss and unexpected suffering.  They are used by God for our good and good of others, so He  permits them   within limits but they are designed and thrust on us by satan and his demons and, yes, humans inspired or influenced by satan.  John 16:33 “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

Romans 5 is not an easy passage to accept, unless going through tribulation and seeking some source of hope to continue.  Romans 5 doesn’t give hope of avoiding tribulation, but hope that God will limit its intensity, bring great lasting good out of it, and will limit how long it lasts.  You and I need reminded often why we endure hardship and reminded it will not last forever.  Nothing gives more credibility to our witness than displaying hope in the midst of trial and tribulation.  You and I need reminded often that tribulation and trial do not come from God but from satan and will not last forever either.  God has promised to not allow us to bear more than we can bear and to go through it with us.  It is not natural for us to take an eternal perspective, but the closer we get to Christ and trust Him, the more clearly we will see and embrace His perspective and vision and plan.

We do live in a fallen world but soon it will be remodeled and satan’s influence will be no more.  Then we will enjoy continual   fellowship with Him without sickness and weakness in spirit or body or fatigue or discouragement or temptation.   We will enjoy more “want to” and no “have to” motivation to worship and praise Him.

Well, glorying in our tribulations takes more doing than I’m up to giving and probably you aren’t either.  Truth is, God gives us necessary Grace and endurance sufficient for trials bearing on us, but likely not ahead of time.  After all, faith is acting as though all will turn out well without seeing   evidence of that yet.  But that is when our minds and determined will needs to kick in and overrule our emotions and fears.

If we see only the problems, we will be defeated; but if we see the possibilities in the problems, we can have victory.
