Never Alone

1 Peter 5-7 Casting All Your Cared Upon Him For He Careth For You

And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”  Luke 24:32

RECOMMENDED READING:  Jeremiah 23:16-2416 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord.17 They say still unto them that despise me, The Lord hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.

18 For who hath stood in the counsel of the Lord, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?  19 Behold, a whirlwind of the Lord is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.20 The anger of the Lord shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.22 But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.23 Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off?24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord.”

COMMENTS:  It is human nature for us to get used to and take God for granted. Afterall, we wake up each morning – the sun always comes up in the morning.  It isn’t until we face a major crisis or tragedy like a heart attack or major medical treatment or a family crisis that creates a problem, we are not able to manage or handle alone.  One would think God would grow tired of such ungrateful short-sighted forgetful people He calls His children.  As we look at scripture, we soon discover we are just like them and just as prone to sin and to forget the God who loves us and is more faithful to us than anyone else is nor can.

God not only can but does abide with each of us at the same time with His full attention and focus as if we were His only child.  Yet, He only asks us to follow His council and be faithful only to Him.  He is jealous but only asks a little of us while providing everything for us.

Suffering and hardship is short lived but necessary for our growth and preparation for service but also for eternity He has planned and is preparing for us.   Just like a piano can not just be played using only the white keys, the black keys of life are necessary for our lives to be complete and for the transformation to become Christ-like.   Christ doesn’t allow hardship to come into our lives because He is angry with us or is judging us.  He allows hardship to come because He knows we need it in order to grow and be drawn closer to Him.  He knows spiritual muscles need exercised as much as our body muscles do.  He knows conform and rest are needed after work to revive but excessive rest and comfort makes us indifferent and lazy and ill prepared when need for strength and energy is needed.

So, how do we respond when life’s challenges come.  Do we become angry or bitter and blame God or someone else or do we seek His council and help to both understand its purpose and how He wants us to respond.  You and I must not forget we are here for only a few brief years and eternity awaits us.  Eternity with Him without sin and sickness and death.

Trusting Him should be as easy as breathing but can be the hardest thing we do.  But trust Him we must if we ever hope to become like Him and leave a legacy of faithfulness worthy of Him and usable by Him.    When God seems far away, He is still close by quietly waiting for us to reach to Him.  When He seems close, He is also managing the universe perfectly and preparing events and others for us to be ministered by and to minister to.   The job         He gives us to do has eternal worth and impact and will be done with Him at our side, but tasks that are well within the talents and gifts and skills He has already given us.

AMEN?  AMEN!
