Humbled and Exalted

              Acts-7_56
Psalm 148:11-13 – Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! Young men and maidens together, old men and children! Let them praise the Name of the LORD, for His Name alone is exalted; His majesty is above earth and heaven.

RECOMMENDED  READING John 6:30-44  30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.”

COMMENTS: Jesus gives us so many insightful parables, sermons, acts of kindness and healing to those He encounters, and examples from His life to give us better understanding of who Jesus is, what God is like, what God desires from us, how He wants us to live, and what He desires to do for us.

The parable of the lost coin or the lost sheep reveals the value God places on each one of us and that “there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”  (Luke 15)

There was great rejoicing in heaven as well as by a multitude of angels announcing Jesus’ birth in the Christmas story recorded in Luke 2.

The battle for the souls of mankind from all generations, from Adam to the final generation, resulted in a battle between Jesus and satan. That battle was foretold in Isaiah proclaimed at Jesus’ birth.  That battle began during Jesus’ life on earth and was at it’s worst starting at the Cross and ended on Easter Sunday.

The battle is over and satan is defeated!  But, judgment on satan is yet to be given.  Imprisonment for satan and his angels and followers are yet to be pronounced.   Revelation gives us some detail that Jesus has conquered satan and has authority and power to pronounce and enforce judgment on satan.  Scripture assures us that Jesus is returned soon to take us home to a home He is preparing for us.  To also bind satan and cast him and his angels and followers into hell and then to restore the world to condition He had originally intended at creation.

The Lord Jesus humbled Himself to save us and was raised to exalted glory. We too are told, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you” (1 Peter 5:6). On a day yet to come, exalted in His presence forever, we will join in the joy of the angels and forever praise the Lamb who was slain for us.

THE PRAYER: Mighty risen and ascended Lord, hear and accept our grateful praise. Lead us in the power of the Holy Spirit to humble ourselves beneath Your loving hand until we are exalted forever in Your presence. Amen.
