New Beginnings

Genesis 8-9
While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, a day and night shall not cease. Genesis 8:22
Recommended Reading Genesis 8:15-22 “13 By the first day of the first month of Noah’s six hundred and first year, the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry. 14 By the twenty-seventh day of the second month the earth was completely dry.15 Then God said to Noah, 16 “Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives. 17 Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you—the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground—so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number on it.”18 So Noah came out, together with his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives. 19 All the animals and all the creatures that move along the ground and all the birds—everything that moves on land—came out of the ark, one kind after another.20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. 21 The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though[a] every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.”

COMMENTS: Over the years I have been tempted to question some of the amazing stories in scripture or at least try to explain them with normal acts of nature. Many famous scientists and theologians have attempted to do that too. But as I gain wisdom and understanding and as science makes new discoveries, I have noticed those new discoveries often have supported scripture account rather than cause further doubt.
So, the conclusion I have come to is to accept scripture and all the stories told there as true as written instead of trying to explain or interpret them. That means if science or physical evidence seems to conflict with those accounts in scripture, instead of questioning the account, I am now questioning the evidence and concluding the evidence to be incomplete or conclusion from evidence to be faulty or incomplete. I realize such a resolve is not satisfactory for many Christians who are still making the journey of faith try to prove validity of scripture. But sooner or later, the loose ends scripture leave or loose ends science leave will force us all to decide whether we are going to believe God and trust Him or not. If scripture is true end is God’s Word worthy of our trust and confidence, then the entire Holy Bible must be included with same trust and confidence. If we are not able to do that, then we need to approach Him with our doubt and questions seeking His help and guidance to restore our faith and trust and confidence in His Word – in His entire Word.
Well, that means the hard work the early church did to canonize some documents into scripture and reject others is all valid. We must believe writing of certain humans was worthy of becoming scripture while others are not. The reasons for discernment and standards established for discernment needs to also be understood and accepted as well.
So, each generation includes Christians and doubters who had to go through this process of validation in their own minds before they too are able to believe the Holy Bible is God’s Holy Word and True and worthy of study and believing. Some of us are more willing to accept scripture as true and some need to do more homework before believing. But the research of those before us can help make our journey of discovery and Belief easier and quicker. But the truth is that those, even atheists and agnostics, who made their search objective and exhaustive came to conclusion the Bible is True and accurate. Lee Strobel is one of those atheists who became a Christians out of that study and investigation. His books are definitely worthy of study. Josh McDowell is another. Both are worthy apologists who can help believers address and resolve any doubt and uncertainty.
Unresolved doubts are a terrible anchor that will prevent growth and freedom in worship for the Christian. God wants us to enjoy and grow in our relationship with Him and unresolved doubt will hinder that joy and growth, so needs to be addressed.
I encourage you to face and address any doubt in our walk and Christian journey. God is big enough and His Word is powerful enough to stand up to your scrutiny and God is big enough to handle any doubts and questions you honestly have for Him. HE has done so for those before you and me and is more than willing and understanding to do so for you too. AMEN? AMEN!!
