Permanent Joy

joy to the world

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

RECOMMENDED READING: Acts 5:40-4240 His speech persuaded them. They called the apostles in and had them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.41 The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name. 42 Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.”               COMMENTS: Have you ever heard it said, “it isn’t so much what you said but how you said it.”  Our attitude impacts or face and emphasis on words and passion or lack of passion we put into our words. Passion can be faked for awhile but can’t be sustained.  Happiness in an emotional feeling impacted by circumstances.  Happiness can’t be sustained without joy.  Joy, in contrast, is a sense of fulfillment and purpose based on something or someone greater than us.  False Joy may feel and seem right but if in an unworthy person or organization, will end in desperation and disappointment.   Those who follow satan’s lies or follow promised not possible will be disappointed.

God always keeps His promises and has full Authority and Power and Ability to do what He promises.  His history is to keep His promises.  God keeps His Word.   He is also perfectly Good and desires only good for us.  That means He is worthy of our trust and our allegiance and faith.   But even more, God gives us purpose and opportunity fulfill a greater purpose for Good that God also provides to Bless us and those He wants us to be a blessing to.  All is for an Eternal life-giving goal that only God could envision and impact.

God is worthy of our love and devotion and trust and allegiance and our OBEDIENCE.  But He requires obedience to be a free choice and not an obligation.  Love makes the difference and makes obedience sustainable.  Otherwise, burnout and discouragement and fatigue cause us to fall short.  But with His help and the loving fellowship we have toward Him and He with us, we can and will remain faithful until life’s end and be welcomed home by Christ personally welcoming us with “Welcome Home good and faithful servant”.  That is what I am longing to hear Him say and am sure you are too.  AMEN?  AMEN!

Some things in life don’t create happiness or laughter. But the conviction that God is in the midst of our circumstances can lead to joy and contentment. Even if our circumstances lead to tears, “joy comes in the morning” (Psalm 30:5).

Don’t let anything steal your joy. Trust in the Lord, be filled with His Spirit, and trust His sovereign will for your life.  H. Spurgeon
