Recommended Reading  Mark 1:23-28  ““And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, ‘What have You to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God.’ But Jesus rebuked him, saying, ‘Be silent, and come out of him!’ And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him.  And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, ‘What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.’ And at once His fame spread everywhere throughout all the surrounding region of Galilee”

COMMENTS: Satan has a sinister and skillful way of  entering places we occupy and seek shelter in from him.  He doesn’t stay just where he has defeated us.  He isn’t satisfied to stay there, but spreads his evil mischief into other area.  Consider evil leaders like Nebuchadnezzar  and Hitler. They were not satisfied to rule over their own people and birth country.  They had their sights on world conquest and reigned destruction and misery and death and their world view and will on the people they conquered.  They forced themselves on them and forced them into compliance.  They were influenced by satan and demonstrated  his inspired evil in the way they ruled and conquered.  BUT THEY WERE DEFEATED BY GOD AND THOSE W HO FOLLOWED HIM.  For Nebuchadnezzar it was Daniel who showed him God and God who humbled him to the point of repentance.  For Hitler defeat was his end and surrender.

We are told satan will also be defeated and his future is eternal judgment with his followers.   God and evil cannot rule the same place.  God will not tolerate evil where He reigns.   Either He will rule or evil will rule in His absence.  Hitler chose evil.  Nebuchadnezzar chose evil until humbled enough to choose God.  His life changed and his rule changed from then on.  He then knew the God that Daniel served and had demonstrated to him for many years. Nebuchadnezzar and Hitler may have started down the same sinful path raining death and terror on all in their path.  But Hitler stayed on that path to it’s end of judgment and eternal damnation with the devil he served.  Nebuchadnezzar’s destination changed simply by repenting and  turning to Daniel’s God and following Him.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, the works of Jesus that stupefied the world around Him were nothing compared to His ultimate victory over sin, death, and the devil. Grant us faith to follow and courage to listen to Your Son. In His Name we pray. Amen.
