God’s Will For You

                              1 corinthian 2,9

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

RECOMMENDED  READING:  PSALM 100:1-5  “Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!Serve the Lord with gladness;Come before His presence with singing.Know that the  Lord,He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,And into His courts with praise.Be thankful to Him, and bless His name”

COMMENTS:  The 10 Commandments were not given by God to Moses as suggestions but as Commandments.  They were not passed on to the Israelites as suggestions but as Commandments.  They were not passed on to subsequent generations, nor to us as suggestions but as Commandments.  Christ’s redemptive sacrifice does not let us off the hook either.  The Covenant God made to the Israelites was not cancelled but fulfilled or completed by Christ.  The 10 Commandments sets the standard to measure God’s expectations and our deficiencies.  It also reveals the magnitude of what Christ frees us from and frees us to become.  It also reveals through Jesus what Perfection looks like and how far about the standard humans live on that Jesus lived and continues to live.

The 10 Commandments gives us a standard no human is able to keep even with help of others, but a standard Jesus redeems us to be able to take His hand to keep one step and one day at a time. A standard we won’t fully achieve until heaven but a standard we can progress significantly while alive and be forgiven and redeemed from judgment to face.  Why can’t we fully obey commandments during our life?  We are weak and easily distracted but we also are on a journey of discover the depth and level each commandment means.  Not to murder, for example, mean more than not to kill.  It also means not to wish someone dead or even not to hate others.  Even more, it means to love to a depth Jesus demonstrated – a level we grow towards but continue to discover as we journey and get to know Jesus more and more.

I invite you to plan some time to study prayerfully each commandment with goal of discovering new meanings for each along with a new discover of a deeper level of Christ-like He is calling you, and me, to live.  Doing so can be unsettling and even “scary” but don’t forgive Christ’s blood has already provided forgiveness and redemption so we have nothing to fear.  We only have more good and deeper levels of Love to discover about God’s Character and strive to achieve in our own lives.  Remember, God intends all journeys of faith to be journeys with Him.  He provides His Holy Spirit with us all the with a personality and goal and purpose identical to Jesus’ and the Father’s.  He will not give us what we do not welcome or seek and will only give us Good.  Good that will be good for us now and good for us 100 years from now and good eternity in the future.   That should give us passion in worship and in praise and in love and gratitude to Him                                                             Take a saint, and put him in any condition, and he knows how to rejoice in the Lord.
