Waiting

Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!  Psalm 27:14

Recommended Reading: Psalm 130 “  Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord.Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications. If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.Let Israel hope in the Lord: for with the Lord there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption. And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.”

COMMENTS:  Have you ever been overwhelmed and filled with desperation? Work or family problems or responsibilities seem to be more than you can handle or manage with no relief in sights and help is not available or sufficient to bring relief.  If you aren’t experiencing this now, you most likely have in the past and will again soon.  So how do we react when those times come?  Do we respond with anger and harsh words and actions?  Do we say and do things that make matters worse and actually cause broken relationships and hinder options for others who could help? Does our emotions become our worst enemy because they tempt and motivate us to make poor choices and alienate those who want to and can help?  How many of our problems we are enduring are coming from past poor choices and emotional blowups?  Truth is we are all guilty of such failings, which are indeed sins.

Let’s face it, the closer we get to Christ, the more we realize just how Good and Perfect He is and how perfect His life on earth was.  Then when we compare to our lives, we realize just how sinful we still are.  We begin to see what we think is “justifiable behavior” or “normal human behavior” or even good behavior is actually sinful and in need of repentance and change.  Just because our behavior and conduct are comparable to everyone else’s or even better than most, that doesn’t mean we are good enough.

Well, all this discussion sounds depressing and hopeless, but is truly the opposite.  Christ so wants to give us not only eternal life but a much better life while here in our human bodies.  Even though we can’t become as perfect as Him in these bodies, we can go a long way on the path to perfection with His help.  IF you can see positive change each year than you are likely on that path, but progress can be greater and sustained if we learn to seek and follow Him with more focus and discipline   and consistency.  His Holy Spirit is available 24×7 to help and council us on this path and journey.  But if we let our emotions control our actions and words, that can never happen.  But mind over emotions is a start but surrendering our emotions to Him is solution and when real change begins to happen.  That is my desire and goal and is increasingly becoming my passion and pray will be yours as well. Path to this goal isn’t pleasant or easy often, but is certainly worthwhile. AMEN?  AMEN!
