When God Wrecks Your Plans

“and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.”

2Cor.5:15

“Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”

Luke9:23
COMMENTS:
Have you ever made plans and they fell apart?  Something or someone interrupted your day or schedule, causing delay or missing a target needed to finish successfully.  We don’t need to look far in scripture to discover or re-learn the reality that God’s plans are often in conflict with His plans for us.  The conflict tempts us to resist His plan so can continue with ours.  Most of the time it is a simple interruption like causing us to take some time to help or minister or visit someone in need.  Consider the many interruptions Jesus encountered in His ministry that changed someone’s life.  Our plans tend to become more compatible with His plans as we expect and remain flexible to life’s interruptions.  Likewise, not letting our plans interrupt or shorted our time of devotion and worship each morning and evening.

Well, you and I need to remember God is still in control and not only has our best in mind but His plans for us are far better for us and those we influence than ours.  If we truly believe that and put our trust in Him, we will not let our plans get in the way when He nudges or pushes us down a different path or direction – an interruption to our day or life.  Granted, we need to be careful and discerning so as not to abandon any plan and wonder aimlessly waiting for a revelation or angelic visit.  Instead, letting the Holy Spirit guide and give you opportunity while doing your daily tasks and obligations while being alert to stop when He is needing you to take a detour or stop for a delay.

Fretting over loss of time can blind us to ways He provides to meet our obligations while fulfilling His work assignment.

What about when crisis or tragedy enters our lives and families?  Life is put on hold and priorities change in a moment. Sickness or death in our family changes us and forces us to change our plans.  Well, God may not prefer to teach and guide us through tragedy but will use such to move us closer to Himself and to His plan.

Satan tries to convince us God has wrecked our plans because what He calls us to do isn’t what we necessarily want to do. Our wishes, ways, and wants don’t always line up with God’s will and ways, and they may even go totally contrary to Him like mine did that day. But instead of resisting Him as we often have done, we should lovingly, humbly, adoringly, and thankfully deny our fleshly desires and submit ourselves wholly to Him and His plans for us. He ALWAYS knows what’s best. And we who belong to Jesus need to live like we do. For HE IS LORD. And we are His. Forever!

I need reminded of that often and am sure you do too.
