Man Who Lashed Out at Me

                                                  luke 9,23

Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they exclude you,
And revile you, and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man’s sake.
Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! For indeed your reward is great in heaven,
For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.” Luke 6:22-23
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Mt. 5:10-12
“Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” 2 Tim. 3:12
““If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” John 15:18-19

COMMENTS: Have you ever been made fun of or ridicules or worse for confessing your faith in Christ?  In my distant past I recall a homeless man who asked for a handout but handed him a Bible Track with the gift.  He responded scoffing God but I reacted by saying I would not have been motivated to show Him kindness without God’s nudging to do so.  I realized there was likely a betrayal in his life that caused him to blame God.  Most times I would rush on hoping not to get into a lengthily debate. This time I did but believe I at least softened the man’s bitterness to God.  I felt so unprepared when debate started but was humbled at response God guided me to share.  I was glad afterwards for opportunity and for God’s nudging to give this man a bit more than typically gave.  The larger gift gave greater credibility to track given with it and discussion that followed.  I prayed for that man for a time and by this reminder am praying again that he found redemption and healing but most of all a relationship with God he desperately needed and God wanted.

Have you had a similar experience, an opportunity God interrupted your day to minister to someone?  I’ve had others, some I didn’t follow and later regretted, but some I did and felt blessed as a result.  How about you?  I pray He will give more such opportunities with necessary preparation to be faithful.
