Loyal Love

psalm 145,1-2

The goodness of God endures continually.  Psalm 52:1

RECOMMENDED READING:  PSALM 145:1-9  “I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever.Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works. And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness. They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness. The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.”

COMMENTS: Let’s stop and reflect on ways and places we’ve seen that reflect God’s majesty and power and might but also His love and sovereignty. Witnessing the huge sequoia redwood trees of Yosemite or the majesty of the Grand Canyon or the unique beauty of Yellowstone or Niagara Falls or sites we see more often like a beautiful sunrise or sunset or rainbow or the vastness and beauty of a night sky full of stars or the ocean.   The beauty of a flower garden with its wonderful smells.   The airs freshness after a thunderstorm, but then again, the power of lightning and thunder.

As I get older, I become more aware of how important healthy properly functioning bodies are and how fragile and precious they are.  Their complexity and durability are amazing too.  Yet I am also amazed and grateful God not only has made provision for it to provide a   mortal home for use, but His promise of providing a far better eternal body and home for us more wonderful than the mortal home He provides on earth.

I haven’t scratched the surface of identifying all the evidence of God’s majesty and sovereignty and creative power and imagination.  Consider the variety of life, both animal and vegetation.  Consider the variety of human life.  We are all unique and different in appearance, in size and shape, in color, and very unique in personality.

So, we have a tremendous amount of evidence all around and even in us to convince us He is all powerful, all loving, and faithful and sovereign.  No one is more faithful or more powerful.  Satan may deceive us to believe he has more to offer and has a better plan but he only offers pain and death.  God offers eternal life with confidence that He keeps His promises and so worthy of our trust and devotion.  He is so worthy of our loyalty and love.  That is what He desires of us.  He has and continues to demonstrate loyal love to us.

Today’s Psalm reminds us that waterfalls and even gravity and sunlight will one day fail.  This earth will be replaced but God’s loyal love is eternal and will be our future to enjoy if we accept His love and mercy.  As with any gift, the gift must be accepted and opened and used to be of value and blessing to recipient.
