God’s Plan for Us – Given to Jeremiah

jeremiah 23,23-24

“The Word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.  Before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”  Jeremiah 1:4-5

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13

“Call upon me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things that you do not know”  Jeremiah 33:3

COMMENTS: We serve a God far greater than any pagan god man could create.  The attributes and goodness of our God is far above anything we can imagine or comprehend.  The closer we get to Him, the more we will realize that and love and worship Him more.  If we look at the pagan gods of Hinduism or Buddhism or Islam or …, we will soon realize our God is far above theirs.  The reason is only God is real and God.  All others were created by man at inspiration of satan himself.  You don’t believe that?  Well, our Bible tells us Jesus is the only way to God (John 14:6) and God is a jealous God and does not permit any other gods before Him (10 commandments – Exodus 20:1-17). Truth is, the existence of God doesn’t depend on us believing in Him, but our existence and future definitely depends on Him, like it or not.  That is because He is our creator and sustainer, the all-powerful God who is still on His throne.  AMEN?

Well, I invite you to prayerfully reflect and meditate on the above scriptures found in Jeremiah.  Stop and consider how amazing it is that knew you and me before we were born and loved us.  Even though He also knows everyone great and small from Adam to present, each and every one of us He knows and loves just as much.  He loves and knows you and me just as much as Abraham and Isaac, as Daniel and David, as Joseph and Jacob, as Billy Sunday and Billy Graham, as the greatest of kings and poorest of peasants.  He also has a plan for each one of us which we have free will to accept and follow or reject and turn from.

But He tells us His plan is good and brings us hope and a bright future.  He also tells us we can be in intimate fellowship and relationship with Him if we seek Him with all our hearts. If we do so, He will draw near to us and show us mighty things we can’t know or even comprehend without His insights.  But He will reveal to us knowledge that will give us life and hope and joy and peace.  Such things satan rejected and despises because he hates God and hates us too.  Satan is bent on hurting God and destroying us and will do anything he can to fulfill that goal.   So why does God him to do the harm he does?  The answer is not completely known, but He did give satan free will to choose and the 1/3 angels who left heaven with him were free to choose as well.  We too have free will to choose who we will follow too.  But evil choices do have consequences that can and will hurt not only the guilty but all too often the innocent who did not make those choices.

Yet all have sinned and are guilty and worthy of God’s judgment.  Even if we are hurt by the sins of others, we still are guilty of equally evil sins for which we are guilty of committing.   That is why we all need a Savior to forgive us and bear our sins.  That is why Jesus died on the cross and raised from the death to provide forgiveness and victory over sin.  That is why the Holy Spirit came to empower and enable and empower each of us to be transformed and begin living a more Christ-like life and discover and follow the plan God made for each of us before the world began and long before we were conceived.

How wonderful a realization.  How wonderful a love story that God knows and loves us each and every one no matter our position or color or location or gender or age.  Who could have imagined or wrote such a love story?  Only God could and only God did.  He relayed these wonderful truths to those who He chose, not to keep to themselves but proclaim to the world, to everyone.  The Israelites were not to keep this truth to themselves. God’s plan for them was to live and stay faithful to Him and proclaim this wonderful love story to the pagan world so they too would repent and turn to Him.  But instead they not only keep God’s truth to themselves but turned from Him to follow the pagan gods time after time, with disastrous consequences for them and for the pagan nations who needed to hear.

Consider the story of Jonah who fled to avoid God’s call to preach repentant to the Ninevites, a brutal pagan people who invaded and reigned terror and death on the Israelites.  Jonah didn’t want to preach to them because he hated them for what they did to his people and family and know God would be merciful to them if they did repent.  But God changed his mind in the belly of a great fish and Nineveh’s population of likely 100,000 repented and received God’s mercy.  Notice that made Jonah angry until God changed his soul too and show him how to forgive too.

This is the same God we serve. The same God who died for you and me and provides His Holy Spirit 24x7x365 to each one of us to help and guide us on the life journey of following His plan.

Do you know God’s plan for you?  Are you following it?  If you know it, then you know what to do.  If you don’t know it, just go to Him with a sincere heart asking.  He won’t without it but does want to prepare us to receive it, so may take some time to get our attention or for us to clear our minds to give Him full attention.  So, let’s get busy and draw closer to Him. He still has much to teach and show and tell us. After all, He is God and we’re not!!  AMEN?  AMEN!!
