Judgment

prov 3,7

But there was no one like Ahab who sold himself to do wickedness in the sight of the Lord, because Jezebel his wife stirred him up.   1 Kings 21:25

RECOMMENDED READING:  2 TIMOTHY 4:14 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;”

COMMENTS:  Do you know anyone who has given themselves over to an evil life-style?  Those from history like Nero or Hitler or Ahab and Jezebel noted in today’s scripture stand out for their conduct and terrible deeds.  But what about those who are less obvious who turn to crime and drugs and various forms of sinful behavior.   None have ever done so knowing or believing the level of depravity they would steadily fall into nor the full consequences on themselves and their families.  I dare      say few if any would do so if they had full knowledge and comprehension.  Just like Lazarus and the rich man Jesus told of in scripture, the rich man longed to warn his family but was unable to do so.  Satan withholds that knowledge and tricks and draws us step and step deeper and deeper into sin and its death grip if we continue to follow him. Most exercise some restraint based on fear of getting caught or guilt or realization at least somewhat of consequences.  But in God’s eyes we are all equally deprived and sinful with the redemption and covering of Christ’s blood and Grace. We are living in a time and season of God’s Grace that began at Christ’s resurrection and continues to this day.  Pentecost enabled us to have and enjoy God’s Holy Spirit living in us.  Enabling us to walk the journey toward becoming Christ like and less satan like.  Learning to forgive and loving toward is our calling and life goal.  Judgment is not ours to do.  But one day that time of Grace will end and Christ will come to judge and rule this world.  This world will change and those who received His Grace will inherit the world He will transform and rule.  Satan will no longer be allowed to tempt and corrupt it or us.   Times when we are close to Him and in fellowship and worship with other believers, we get a glimpse of what it will be like.  What a wonderful time it will be.  But in the meantime, there is work to be done.  Work in sharing the Good News and work of change God still needs to do in our own soul, for we are still a long way from being Christ-like.

“The fact that Jesus will sit upon the throne of judgment will be the consternation of his enemies and the consolation of his people.”     John Murray
