The sun shall no longer be your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; but the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory.

Isaiah 60:19

Recommended Reading: PSALM 94:  “O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.Lord, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph? How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? They break in pieces thy people, O Lord, and afflict thine heritage. They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.Yet they say, The Lord shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?10 He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?11 The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Lord, and teachest him out of thy law;13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.14 For the Lord will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.15 But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.16 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?17 Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.18 When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O Lord, held me up.19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.20 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?21 They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.22 But the Lord is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.23 And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the Lord our God shall cut them off.”

COMMENTSYou and I have a wonderful privilege and blessing available to us.  The promise of eternal life with Him in heaven where He continues to prepare a home for us.  The promise of never leaving or forsaking us.   The promise of new eternal bodies that will not age.  The promise of His abiding spirit to council and guide and strength and protect us while on earth 24x7x365.   All required of us in order to receive these promises is to receive His free gift of salvation.  And then again, how about the amazing blessing of prayer to communicate with Him anywhere, anytime, and all the time without delay or appointment.

But our natures are to take for granted God’s blessings because they are so consistent and unfailing.   But is a miracle any less a miracle if it is experienced every day.  The sun coming up or a gentle rain or the plants that give us nourishment, beauty or oxygen to sustain us?    Not if we think God is far away or never around, we simply aren’t looking.  He is everywhere, even in the midst of storms and hardships to help and guide and strengthen us.

He uses those hardships to strengthen us and draw us closer to Himself.  He provides prosperity to enjoy but also to share with others in need.  His goal is to be in closer relationship with us and us with each other.  Joni Eareckson Tada has enduring much pain with the handicap of being paralyzed and enduring cancer.  Her accident may have happened from her own foolish choice as a teenager to dive into shallow waters without checking depth first.  But the depth of her faithfulness and relationship with God is an example for each of us.  Notice and let her words below sink deep into your soul and thank God for their truth.  This hope is her’s as well.   A new body is definitely something she is hoping for and confidently expecting, while being faithful and using her handicap to reach countless millions for Christ in the meantime.

“No other religion, no other, promises new bodies, hearts, and minds. Only in the gospel of Christ do hurting people find such incredible hope.”    Joni Eareckson Tada
