Lord, You Know

prov. 3,11-12

Lean not on your own understanding.  Proverbs 3:5

RECOMMENDED READING: PROVERBS 3:1-6 “My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

COMMENTS:  There are some things we know that others don’t know.  In knowing that, do we demonstrate pride by showing off or do we encourage and mentor those who desire to learn from us. But then again, do we honor them by looking for and seeking their mentoring in response as well?

If we’re honest, we need to admit there are times we are not very open to God to mentor us.   But then again, there are times we are not open to be mentored by those we have much to learn from too.  God has much to teach us.  Life changing and life-giving instruction and wisdom.  Often those lessons come from others, but ultimately, they come from God through His Word and His abiding Holy Spirit.

God’s Law is not meant to make us miserable or defeated or even a failure. God’s law is meant to show us a life giving joyful way to live and show us what God is like and wants us to be like.  God’s Law reveals to us how far show of being like Christ we still are so we will realize how much closer we need to get to Him and strive to do that.  So many stories like the parable of the prodigal son reveal God’s willingness to not only forgive and restore but His passion to run to us when we start walking towards Him.

Let’s work harder and spend more time at building our relationship with God by studying His Word, praying, being open to and seeking and asking for the Holy Spirit’s help and following God’s response and instruction.  Only He has the answers to life and answers to those questions our children and grandchildren ask us that we simply don’t know.

Faith is confidently trusting God without knowing those answers and follow His instruction not knowing how He will bring us to His promised destination for us.  He is our best friend and our wising mentor and teacher.   BUT HE IS ALSO OUR CREATOR, OUR LORD, OUR SAVIOR, OUR REDEEMER, AND OUR ETERNAL FATHER.  We should not forget how great a precious privilege we have to be in relationship with the Creator and sustainer of all.
