john 10,10-11

And the Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?”  Zechariah 3:2

Recommended Reading: ZECHARIAH 3:1-10 “And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment. And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord stood by.And the angel of the Lord protested unto Joshua, saying,Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the Branch. For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.10 In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.”

COMMENTS:   Have you ever been bullied by anyone?  I have and believe most have sometime.  Bullying is intended to force the bully’s will on others, but also to make himself feel and appear stronger by making others feel inferior, ashamed, humiliated, and alone without defense.  Bullies hide vulnerability with arrogant behavior.  Bullies appear everywhere, even in family members and even in churches.

Cyber bullying is a very common.  Bullies can do their evil work without accountability and restraint, but damage they do too often is devastating and irreversible.

Satan is the ultimate bully strutting around working hard to make himself appear invincible and everyone who resists him as weak and defenseless.  He wants us to feel alone and weak.  He wants to isolate us from God and influence of His Holy Spirit.

Contrast Christ’s example and character to satan’s. Satan leaves a trail of broken lives and death.  Christ leaves a trail of restored lives and not just life but eternal life. Christ tells us the satan’s path is wide and most follow it while Christ’s path is narrow and few follow it.  It is not because Christ only wants a few followers, but because most refuse to accept Christ’s redemptive offer.   Those lost in their sins continue so because they have refused Christ, not because He has refused them.  But the season of Grace will not last forever.  A time of judgment is approaching when Christ will return to bind satan and bring judgment on him and his followers.  Then it will be too late to accept Him.  That is why He is urging and even pleading for all to repent of their sins and receive His redemption.  Repentance is simple but requires turning from pride and surrendering our wills to His Will.  Christ is the only door to eternal life, the only door to forgiveness (John 14:6).  We can’t earn or work our way there.  The price is too high and the magnitude and depth of our sin is too great.  But there is no need to seek another door because Christ’s door is more than sufficient to provide access to the full payment for our redemption and to eternal life.  Why would we seek or want another way unless it is satan tempting us to seek another door in order to distract and keep us from the right door.

“I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:9-10

The Lord Jesus pleads for us in Heaven, and so advocates our cause before the throne of God against him who is “the accuser of the brethren.”  Herbert Lockyer
