When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth.  John 16:13

Recommended Reading: JOHN 16:12-15 “ 12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you..”

COMMENTS:

The Bible is not only a living Book instructing and guiding us to life and life eternal, it is God’s love letter to you and me and everyone.  He longs for everyone to enjoy it’s contents and be drawn into a personal relationship with Him.  His guiding Holy Spirit draws and invites us into His Word and into that relationship.

A bible study book first published in 1901 and written by James McConaughy, professor of Mount Hermon School in Northfield , Massachusetts, gives us the following guidance in studying our Bible:

“To get the most good from your daily reading keep in mind these key words: (1) Think. Keep the mind fixed on the passage. If it is difficult, read aloud. (2) Pray. The heart must be taught as well as the mind. God’s Spirit only can do this. (3) Obey. God’s Word is more than history, more than literature. It is a revelation of His will, a message to the reader… Only those who do what is written in it are blessed. (4) Share. The Gospel is not private property. The things which have been seen and heard must be spoken…The privilege of following a course of Bible study brings with it the responsibility of using the results for God.”

His Word “is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).

“Bible study differs from all other study in this respect; it is profitless unless the Guide is ever present and leading into the truth.”  James McConaughy
