Secret Ingredient

John 10,1-21

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.John 10:10

RECOMMENDED READING:  JOHN 10:1-21  “ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them. Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.19 There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?21 Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?

COMMENTS: Hi end restaurants have recipes using ingredients cook keeps secret so others cannot copy and profit from their work and achievements.  Their livelihood and success are at risk if their secrets are discovered and used by others.  However, God shared His passions and accomplishments with us freely.  We only need to open our eyes and hearts and look around to show how lavishly and beautifully He shows us with His love and creative generous.  Consider how wonderfully our bodies are made and durable they are while being vulnerable at the same time. Vulnerable to damage and disease and evil.  How easily it to destroy and but to bring new life into this world requires significant investment and commitment.  But who can manufacture life like a car or house is built?  None but God.  Who can create a scene like a sunrise or sunset or the beauty of a clear sky at night or all the sights and smells of spring.  Even the poorest of us have so much to worship and praise God for.  So much to be thankful for.  But even amidst the worse persecution or tragedy or misery or sickness with little to hope for and eminent death looming, the promise of heaven and an eternity with Him overshadows present distress.  God has revealed enough about heaven and all who inhabit heaven to assure us heaven is by far more wonderful than the best we could dream for on earth. The hope sustains millions of Christians before us as they face death and severe suffering.  You likely know someone who exampled that confident hope and peace for you.  They confirm and convince us such hope is well founded and real.  You and I need to be and become that example for others too.  Christ is our perfect example and role model and hero, but we need some closer examples we can touch and talk to and watch.  Everyone does, so we need to become those good examples for them too.  Stop and reflect on family and friends and neighbors who look up to you and are impacted by your example. Well, such reflection is humbling and a bit frightening due to responsibility such realization brings.  That is why we need to be diligent and careful to get and stay close to Christ and open to His Holy Spirit’s indwelling so we are and remain good examples to others.  Otherwise, we will disappoint and be a very poor example at times.  Damage from being poor examples is evident in lives of millions of teens and children and adults who follow a destructive path inspirited and fueled by such examples.  We are all responsible for our own actions, but influence of bad examples is powerful and hard to overcome.  But genuine good examples can and do make a huge difference and as others are positively influenced and copy those examples, the compounding affect can and does make a huge difference on society.  One life can and does make a difference.  So, can mine and yours.  AMEN?  AMEN!
