Sowing and Reaping

Malachi 3,10

“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.” Malachi 3:10

Recommended Reading: DEUTERONOMY 14:22-29 “22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.23 And thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the Lord thy God always.24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the Lord thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the Lord thy God hath blessed thee:25 Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose:26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the Lord thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,27 And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.28 At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:29 And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.”

COMMENTS: Centrifugal force is the force pulling object away if they are spun around and around.  However, centripetal force pushes objects inward to center.  If spin a ball on a string around and let go, it is propelled away like the sling shot David used to kill Goliath.  A drain demonstrates centripetal force on water going down it.

Satan’s work is to spin us around while pulling us away from God, so is centrifugal in nature.  But God’s plan is centripetal drawing us closer to Himself and His protection and council and strength.  Examples abound in Old Testament accounts of Israel’s history.  God promised blessing to Israel as they came closer in fellowship with Him (1 Kings 4:29-34, 10:1-29, Zechariah 8:23).  God’s promises were conditional.  Israel, and we, must draw closer to Him in obedience and repentance.  New Testament revealed obedience in a different way.  Instead of God drawing Israel to Himself at Jerusalem, Christ’s commission pulled Christ followers out to spread His Good News of redemption to the world (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8).  II Corinthians 9:6 and Galatians 6:7 call Christians to give themselves to planting the Gospel seeds broadly so the harvest of souls will be broad.  That means you and I need to be mindful of our calling and even small opportunities to share.  Planting seeds of encouragement, seeds of compassions, seeds of listening ears.  All serve to show Christ’s love through us to others.  Seeds that may take years to sprout but seeds in God’s hands.  Why does He choose to ask us to partner with Him when He is more than able to evangelize Himself?  Because He wants to work with us and enjoy fellowship with doing His work.  Do you have fond memories of working together with your dad or mom or a sibling or close friend?  The work and conversation bonded you closer together and work was both more enjoyable and effective as a result.   God desires such with us too.  Such a realization is both humbling and overwhelming that God desires such a relationship with you and me.  Let’s reflect and open ourselves and see how God wants to work in and with us.  Such an opportunity…
