Learning to Share

2 cor 9,72 Corinthians 9:7

Recommended Reading: MATTHEW 6:25-34  “25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”

COMMENTS: I am reflected on the scripture above along with Winston Churchill’s quote below.  Children need to learn early to share and giving. So do adults.  Those who do discover great strength and help from those giving draws them to.  They also discover they are not alone and they are loved.  If we are open, such will lead us to God’s love.   To God’s example.  Best of all, to a new and better path, a journey of adventure that Christ will take hand in hand with us.  A journey possible because of Christ’s redemptive gift of forgiveness and the Holy Spirit’s abiding presence available to everyone who will let Him everywhere and at the same time.  Only God can do this but only God would want to.

Learning to share helps us learn to value others, resulting in opening doors to a higher quality of life.  38  Give, and it will be given to you. A good portion—packed down, firmly shaken, and overflowing—will fall into your lap. The portion you give will determine the portion you receive in return.” Luke 6:38  The motivation to give should not be selflsh, thinking we will get more back, but as an expression of love for God and for others.  That motivation will likely be impure with residual selfish elements.  In fact, selfishness will likely contaminate our motives until heaven.  But that doesn’t mean we won’t grow and make great strides in become unselfish and more like Christ as we journey down the path of His choosing and our obedience to walk with Him.  A path that includes sacrifice and hardship and even grief at times, but a path that includes hope and peace and assurance of a bright destination.

But, I know, how can we be generous when we have bills unpaid at the end of our paycheck? That will always be true with no obvious solution until we started trusting God by even in very small ways with some baby steps.  Any idea what that may mean?  Why not ask?  Afraid He will ask you to do something really hard or something you dread doing?  Where did you get that idea?  Maybe we just need to get to know Him a bit better… After all, He is God and He already has paid dearly so we can be in relationship with Him.
